CEO of Petrofund Namibia Impressed by Pertamina’s Drilling Training Center in Indonesia

Ecobiz.asia – Nillian Mulemi, CEO of the Petroleum Training and Education Fund (Petrofund) from Namibia, expressed admiration during her visit to the Indonesia Drilling Training Center (IDTC) operated by Pertamina, located in Kaplongan Village, Indramayu, West Java.

Mulemi described IDTC as an exceptional training facility that prepares drilling crews in various aspects, including Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE).

“This is an outstanding training center. The training offered provides integrated solutions, which are exactly what we need to train our drilling crews. IDTC offers remarkable program solutions. We are considering sending crews for advanced training, with hopes that all participants successfully complete the program,” Mulemi stated in a press release on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Currently, a team of ten from Petrofund is undergoing training at IDTC. The delegation is focusing on intensive roughneck drilling training.

This training initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pertamina and Petrofund to collaborate on human resource training. This partnership is motivated by the discovery of offshore oil resources in Namibia in February 2022.

IDTC is owned by PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, which serves as Pertamina’s upstream subholding.

Komara Media, Vice President of Rig Services Operation at Pertamina Drilling, noted that IDTC has over ten years of experience in drilling training, with instructors who possess more than 30 years of industry experience.

“IDTC has accredited assessors and experienced instructors with backgrounds in the oil and gas sector. We emphasize practical training, equipped with a RIG unit and a well control simulator. We hope that CEO Petrofund’s visit to IDTC will showcase how PTC and PDSI effectively deliver training, paving the way for further collaboration,” Media added. ***
