Ecobiz.asia — Indonesia’s state-owned aviation and tourism holding company, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), known as InJourney, is targeting a reduction of up to 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) by 2026 through the expanded use of renewable energy and strengthened environmental management across its nationwide airport and tourism assets.

InJourney President Director Maya Watono said the target will begin to be implemented through concrete actions starting in 2025.

“Today we are targeting an emission reduction of 4,000 tonnes of CO2e, and this will be carried out this year through real, measurable actions,” Maya said during a press conference titled “Four Years of InJourney: Creating Together, Preserving Indonesia” in Jakarta on Monday (Jan. 19, 2026).

One of the main initiatives involves the deployment of solar power plants (PLTS) at airports managed by InJourney Airports. Through its aviation subsidiary, InJourney currently operates 37 airports across Indonesia.

The use of solar energy is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions generated from electricity consumption at airport facilities.

“The utilization of solar power plants contributes to a reduction of around 2,000 tonnes of CO2e,” Maya said.

Beyond the aviation sector, InJourney is also pursuing emission reductions through improved hotel waste management, the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) at tourism destinations, and mangrove and tree planting across various company-owned assets.

“There are various tree-planting initiatives across our assets. These are concrete actions that we are committed to implementing,” she added.
