Gold Standard, Verra Launch Tool for Article 6.2 Reporting

Ecobiz.asia – Gold Standard and Verra have launched a new tool to help countries report corresponding adjustments (CAs) for carbon credits authorized under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement.

The tool provides a consolidated record of corresponding adjustments for all authorized credits issued under the two carbon standards that host countries are required to report in their 2026 Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs).

Depending on a country’s accounting approach under Article 6, the tool can automatically populate the required summary table for submission alongside its 2026 BTR.

Under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, participating countries must apply corresponding adjustments to authorized carbon credits to prevent double counting. The mechanism ensures that an emission reduction is not counted both by the country where it occurred and by the entity using the credit, such as another country or an airline participating in the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

“Getting corresponding adjustments right is essential to the integrity of Article 6.2 and to the trust that host countries and buyers place in these credits,” Verra CEO Mandy Rambharos said in a statement on August 20, 2026.

“By working together, Verra and Gold Standard can offer a single, consistent resource instead of leaving countries to reconcile two separate systems on their own,” she said.

The organizations said the tool is intended to make the reporting process more efficient, reduce the risk of errors and support more consistent reporting of authorized carbon units across different carbon-market applications.

Gold Standard CEO Margaret Kim said the tool would help countries participate in carbon markets with greater confidence by reducing some of the practical complexity associated with Article 6.2 reporting.

The collaboration is also intended to support more efficient and consistent reporting as countries prepare their 2026 BTRs and expand participation in international carbon markets. ***
