Ecobiz.asia – APP Group has become the first Indonesian company to join RE100, a global initiative led by The Climate Group that brings together companies committed to using 100% renewable electricity in their operations.
APP Group’s membership expands its decarbonization efforts under its Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2030 (SRV 2030), which includes a target to reduce carbon intensity by 30% from its 2018 baseline, alongside efforts to increase renewable fuel use and improve energy efficiency.
“Joining RE100 is an important step for APP Group in continuing to integrate climate action into our business strategy. We hope this commitment will not only strengthen our transition efforts, but also help build greater awareness and momentum for renewable electricity use in Indonesia,” APP Group Chief Sustainability Officer Elim Sritaba said Wednesday (Oct. 7, 2026).
Under SRV 2030, APP Group is also working to improve energy efficiency and increase the use of renewable fuels across its operations.
In its integrated pulp and paper operations, the company uses renewable fuels and biofuel-based waste streams where technically and commercially feasible.
APP Group’s RE100 membership is part of its Regenesis sustainability platform, which encompasses the company’s commitments and programs to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and cut emissions.
RE100, led by The Climate Group in partnership with CDP, now brings together more than 440 companies globally committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity for their operations.
APP Group’s membership was marked by the presentation of a “First in Indonesia” trophy by The Climate Group CEO Helen Clarkson to Elim Sritaba during the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum in Jakarta on Tuesday (Oct. 6, 2026).
Clarkson said Indonesia has significant potential to develop renewable energy but needs greater private-sector investment in clean energy projects.
“Companies like APP Group, as our first member from Indonesia, demonstrate the growing demand for reliable and affordable renewable electricity,” Clarkson said. ***
