Ecobiz.asia — China’s Sinoway Forest is exploring investment opportunities in Indonesia’s forest rehabilitation and carbon sink programmes, drawing on its experience managing ecological restoration projects in several countries.
Sinoway Forest chairman Liu Tao met with Indonesia’s delegation represented by Ministry of Forestry Mangrove Rehabilitation Director Ristianto Pribadi and the ministry’s Head of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau, Krisdianto, on the sidelines of the UNFCCC COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil, on Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2025).
Sinoway Forest Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Sinoway Holdings (Beijing) Co., Ltd., works on forest carbon development, desertification control and ecological restoration, with completed or ongoing projects in Uzbekistan, Uganda, Mauritania and the United Arab Emirates.
Krisdianto said Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry welcomed the interest and outlined potential cooperation through national mangrove rehabilitation programmes, which are among the government’s priority landscape-restoration efforts.
“We hope private-sector participation can strengthen national forest-restoration efforts and support climate-mitigation and sustainable land-management goals,” he said.
Both sides agreed to begin discussions on a pilot project as an initial step toward broader collaboration. ***
