Ecobiz.asia – Technology firm ABB reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable mobility and the global energy transition as it returned as title sponsor of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Jakarta.

Through the international electric car racing event, ABB not only showcases its technological innovations in electrification and automation but also highlights the real-world application of environmentally friendly solutions across various industrial sectors in Indonesia.

“ABB FIA Formula E is not just a race—it is where high performance meets sustainability,” said Chris Poynter, President of ABB’s Motion System Drives Division, on Saturday (June 21, 2025).

“Our motor and drive technologies are not only relevant on the track but also instrumental in decarbonizing industry and transportation,” he added.

ABB views the Jakarta E-Prix as a key opportunity to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in promoting electric mobility, smart infrastructure, and energy efficiency.

Gerard Chan, President Director and Country Holding Officer of ABB in Indonesia, said the Jakarta E-Prix reflects Indonesia’s readiness to adopt electric mobility.

“This event reinforces ABB’s role as a strategic technology partner in supporting Indonesia’s low-carbon development,” he said.

ABB has operated in Indonesia for more than 30 years. In the clean energy sector, the company is involved in two major projects: the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant in West Java, where ABB supplied medium-voltage switchgear and protection systems, and the Ijen geothermal project in East Java, which uses ABB’s high-efficiency generators to boost performance.

The discussion emphasized the need for collaboration between technology, policy, and innovation to build a low-carbon industrial ecosystem.
