Ecobiz.asia — Fairatmos and global climate solutions provider South Pole signed a landmark Letter of Intent (LoI) for the offtake of carbon credits from the Muara Teweh Conservation (MTC) Project during a Seller Meet Buyer session at the Indonesia Pavilion at COP30 UNFCCC in Belém, Brazil, on Monday (Nov. 17, 2025).

The agreement marks a significant step in strengthening international demand for high-integrity, nature-based carbon projects from Indonesia, and reflects growing confidence in the country’s evolving carbon market.

“This LoI sends a strong market signal that demand for high-integrity projects is real, and that Indonesia’s sustainable land-use sector is investable.” Fairatmos CEO and Founder Natalia Rialucky said.

Once operational, the project is expected to deliver more than 27 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) in emissions reductions over its crediting period, while protecting extensive forest areas and restoring degraded land.

“A large-scale project like Muara Teweh is critical for delivering climate impact, empowering communities, and preserving biodiversity,” Natalia said.

South Pole intends to purchase verified emission reductions from the project to channel international carbon finance and accelerate its climate impact.
