Ecobiz.asia — Several carbon projects across forestry and land use (FOLU) and energy sectors have signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) to list and trade their carbon units on Indonesia’s official carbon exchange platform, IDXCarbon.

The LoI signifies each project developer’s commitment to sell part or all of their carbon units through Indonesia’s national carbon trading platform.

According to a press release received on Wednesday (Nov. 12, 2025), IDXCarbon showcased and promoted various Indonesian projects, both registered and upcoming, during the Seller Meet Buyer sessions at the Indonesia Pavilion at the COP30 UNFCCC in Belém, Brazil.

The Seller Meet Buyer sessions aim to connect Indonesian carbon project developers with global buyers, in line with the government’s vision to strengthen a high-integrity carbon market ecosystem.

IDXCarbon data show the total potential carbon units from the 16 projects reach around 90 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e). The projects cover various schemes, ranging from peatland and mangrove conservation to renewable power generation and industrial energy efficiency.

In addition to new projects, IDXCarbon currently lists more than 3.6 million tonnes of CO₂e from certified carbon projects developed by companies such as PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, PT PLN Nusantara Power, PT PLN Indonesia Power, and PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV.

Jeffrey Hendrik, Director of Development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and operator of IDXCarbon, said the growing number of project developers reflects rising confidence in Indonesia’s carbon market mechanism.

“Indonesia has one of the world’s largest carbon credit potentials. IDXCarbon ensures transparency, reliability, and security in every transaction, creating a fair, orderly, and efficient carbon market,” Jeffrey said during the session “Indonesia’s Carbon Market Outlook: Enhancing Market Integrity and Transparency” at the Indonesia Pavilion.

Since its official launch on September 26, 2023, IDXCarbon has recorded 142 registered participants, total trades of 1.6 million tonnes of CO₂e, and retirements of 986,000 tonnes CO₂e as of November 10, 2025. ***
