Ecobiz.asia – Climate Smart Ventures (CSV) and Mahardika Energy Partners have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation on Indonesia’s energy transition and support its 2060 net-zero goal.

The agreement covers industrial decarbonisation strategies, technical and financing support for renewable energy projects, coal-to-biomass conversion, and capital mobilisation through the Asia Energy Transition Platform (AETP).

““We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Mahardika to advance fit-for-purpose decarbonization and renewable energy adoption in Indonesia. Our shared focus is clear: translating sustainability ambitions into a technical and commercial reality,” said Lawrence Ang, CSV managing partner, Tuesday (Sept 23,2025)

Arthur Simatupang, director at Mahardika, said the collaboration would help make Indonesia’s net-zero ambitions more tangible.

“This collaboration is designed to help turn Indonesia’s net-zero ambitions into reality, through feasible, concrete, and bankable projects. By combining Mahardika’s extensive local networks and deep technical expertise with CSV’s international financing and transaction advisory experience, we aim to deliver transformative energy solutions,” he said.

Industrial decarbonisation will also be a priority, particularly in steel, cement, textiles and nickel – sectors that drive economic growth but also produce high emissions.

Under the MoU, the partners will design standardised approaches, foster industry knowledge-sharing, and develop decarbonisation pathways that are compliant, technically viable and bankable.

They will also provide technical assistance and financing advice for renewable projects, conduct feasibility studies, structure transactions and engage investors.

The partnership will assess coal-to-biomass conversion potential by mapping supply chains, piloting projects with industry players and exploring financing models.

Through AETP, CSV and Mahardika plan to mobilise capital for distributed renewables such as rooftop solar, small hydro and community-scale solutions, targeting both commercial returns and sustainable impacts, including emissions reduction, lower energy costs and job creation. ***
