Indonesia Introduces New Standards for Carbon Market Validators

Ecobiz.asia – Indonesia has introduced new national competency standards for independent carbon validators and verifiers, marking another step in strengthening the integrity of its emerging carbon market following the rollout of the country’s new carbon pricing framework.

The National Accreditation Committee (Komite Akreditasi Nasional/KAN) issued Regulation No. 1 of 2026 on Competency Standards for Independent Validators and Verifiers in the Implementation of Carbon Economic Value (NEK) Instruments.

The regulation was enacted on July 7 and entered into force on July 17, 2026.

According to legal analysis published by Veritask.ai, the regulation establishes standardized competency requirements for professionals responsible for validation and verification activities within Indonesia’s national carbon market.
