Ecobiz.asia — PT PLN Nusantara Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VOGO-ARSTROMA to explore the development of carbon capture technology as part of efforts to support Indonesia’s energy transition and net zero emission (NZE) 2060 target.

The MoU was signed in Jakarta on Thursday (April 9, 2026) by PLN Nusantara Power’s Director of Coal-Fired Power Plant Operations M. Irwansyah Putra and VOGO-ARSTROMA President Director Kwon Jeong Sang.

Under the agreement, both parties will assess the application of membrane-based carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology across PLN Nusantara Power’s generation units. The technology is designed to capture carbon emissions with lower energy consumption and can be deployed flexibly across different scales.

The scope of cooperation includes feasibility studies covering technical, economic, and environmental aspects, pilot project development, operational data exchange, and capacity building in carbon management.

Irwansyah said the partnership marks a strategic step to address decarbonization challenges in the power sector.

“This collaboration lays the foundation to explore structured implementation of CCUS technology, from feasibility studies to potential pilot projects at our power plants,” he said.

Beyond technology transfer, the partnership also aims to support domestic industry development by increasing local content utilization.
