Fairatmos, Pupuk Indonesia Sign MoU to Develop Nature-Based Solutions Projects

Ecobiz.asia — Fairatmos (PT Udara Untuk Semua) has formalized a cooperation agreement with PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) to develop a series of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects across the country. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the Carbon Digital Conference (CDC) 2025 held at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

The announcement was published on Fairatmos’ official website on Thursday (Dec. 11, 2025).

The MoU was signed by Fairatmos Director Natalia Rialucky Tampubolon and Jamsaton Nababan, Director of Technical & Business Development at Pupuk Indonesia, in the presence of industry stakeholders. Both parties agreed to explore collaborative opportunities that support national development while adhering to principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG).

The partnership combines Fairatmos’ technological expertise in carbon project development with the industrial scale and capacity of Pupuk Indonesia, one of Indonesia’s largest state-owned enterprises in the fertilizer, petrochemical, and agro-industry sectors.

The cooperation covers several key areas, including identifying and utilizing potential land for mangrove restoration and reforestation, developing agroforestry-based carbon projects, enhancing community participation and capacity, and promoting productive and sustainable land use.

Fairatmos highlighted several high-priority locations to be assessed under the collaboration, including the Nunukan Mangrove and Peatland Project, the Tana Tidung Mangrove Initiative, and the Tamiang Ecosystem Project. Each site will undergo feasibility desk studies to determine technical and financial viability.

The MoU will be in effect for an initial period of one year and may be extended based on project progress. Fairatmos noted that the early phase of the partnership focuses on comprehensive studies to ensure each proposed NBS project meets high standards of integrity and impact.

Through this collaboration, the two parties aim to contribute to Indonesia’s national decarbonization targets, strengthen local economies, and accelerate the adoption of nature-based climate solutions. ***
