Ecobiz.asia — PT Sumber Energi Surya Nusantara (SESMO) has commenced construction of a 262 MWp solar power plant at the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi, with an investment value of around US$210 million.

The project is backed by a financing syndication led by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) as bookrunner, which structured the financing and coordinated participating financial institutions.

The solar facility will be equipped with a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 80 MWh to ensure reliable clean power supply for energy-intensive industries within the IMIP complex.

SESMO President Director Rico Syah Alam said the start of construction reflects the project’s readiness from both technical and financial standpoints.

“Support from the financial sector is critical to ensure the project proceeds as planned and contributes to industrial decarbonization in Indonesia,” he said in a statement as quoted Tuesday (April 7, 2026).

SESMO is a joint venture between PT Sumber Energi Surya Nusantara (SESNA) and PT Sembcorp Energy Indonesia, combining local renewable energy development capabilities with regional expertise in industrial energy solutions.
