KLH/BPLH, Hanns Seidel Foundation Sign Partnership to Support Indonesia’s NDC Targets

Ecobiz.asia — Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup / Badan Pengendalian Lingkungan Hidup (KLH/BPLH) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and program directive with Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) for the 2026–2028 period to strengthen climate change control and support the achievement of Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets.

Director of Climate Change Resource Mobilization at KLH/BPLH Irawan Asaad expressed appreciation for the collaboration established in the previous period.

“We expect the synergy over the next three years to be more productive and deliver broader impacts in strengthening climate action at both national and local levels,” he said, as quoted on Monday (April 13, 2026).

The agreement was signed in Makassar on April 10, 2026.

HSF Resident Representative in Indonesia Michael Siegner reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s climate agenda.

“The continuation of this partnership reflects strong trust between the two institutions in addressing global climate challenges through science-based approaches and community participation,” he said.

The cooperation will focus on enhancing the role of non-state actors in climate change mitigation and adaptation, including through capacity building and thematic community service programs (KKN) involving universities.

The program includes technical assistance for communities in implementing adaptation and mitigation actions, such as sustainable waste management through source-based segregation and strengthening the circular economy.

In addition, the partnership will support the development of pilot climate adaptation projects in Bali, which already has regional planning documents to guide on-the-ground implementation. ***
