Indonesia Pavilion Connects Global Carbon Buyers and Sellers at COP30, Eyes US$1 Billion Deals

Ecobiz.asia — Indonesia’s Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said the country’s pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, serves as a global platform to connect carbon credit buyers and sellers under a high-integrity market framework.

“Over the next ten days, the Seller Meet Buyer sessions are expected to boost Indonesia’s carbon trade not only during COP30, but beyond,” Hanif said at the opening of the Indonesia Pavilion on Monday (Nov 10, 2025).

The Seller Meet Buyer (SMB) program, introduced for the first time in the history of Indonesia’s COP participation, facilitates direct and transparent transactions between potential sellers and buyers of carbon credits under Indonesia’s High Integrity Carbon Market Framework.

The government aims for up to 90 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in potential transactions, valued at around Rp16 trillion (around US$1 billion) during the conference. Most credits are expected to come from the energy sector, followed by nature-based projects such as forestry.

“Carbon trading is not just an economic transaction, it’s about integrity and building global trust in Indonesia’s carbon system,” Hanif said.

This year’s Indonesia Pavilion, themed “Accelerating Substantial Actions of Net Zero Achievement through Indonesia’s High-Integrity Carbon Market,” features more than 50 strategic sessions, including ministerial dialogues, CEO talks, and business forums across multiple sectors.

Over the two-week COP30 summit, the pavilion will showcase Indonesia’s green diplomacy through cross-sector initiatives in forestry, energy, industry, and waste management.

It will also highlight bilateral cooperation with strategic partners such as the United Kingdom and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales to expand green financing and low-emission technology transfer.

Designed with cultural and sustainability elements, the pavilion integrates open architecture and digital technology, allowing global audiences to access sessions online via the official KLH/BPLH channels.

“The pavilion reflects our national commitment to connect global ambitions with real actions on the ground. Indonesia is ready to be the world’s green bridge, linking governments, businesses, and communities through a high-integrity carbon market,” Hanif said. ***
