Ecobiz.asia – Indonesia will revise its Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) to provide a regulatory basis for the planned addition of up to 100 gigawatts (GW) of power generation capacity, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said.
“We will certainly adjust and revise the RUPTL. The program cannot proceed without a regulatory basis,” Bahlil told reporters on the sidelines of Electricity Connect 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday (Sept. 22, 2026).
The government is currently preparing the proposed revision to the power supply plan, he said.
“We are currently working on the RUPTL revision,” Bahlil said.
The government has previously announced plans to add up to 100 GW of generation capacity as part of efforts to strengthen the national power system and meet rising electricity demand.
Bahlil did not provide details on the changes to be included in the revised RUPTL. The revision is expected to incorporate the additional generation capacity into the country’s power supply planning framework.
President Prabowo Subianto previously launched the 100-gigawatt-peak (GWp) Solar Power Plant Program, with a groundbreaking ceremony held in Gilimanuk, Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Aug. 25, 2026.
The planned solar program will eventually reach 100 GWp, compared with Indonesia’s current total installed power generation capacity of around 88 GW, according to the government.
The solar program will be developed in stages. In the first stage, the government targets 17 GWp of additional solar power capacity.
Fourteen solar power projects with a combined capacity of 5,216 megawatts-peak (MWp) are currently at various stages of development, ranging from construction and groundbreaking to commissioning and tender preparation.
The 100 GWp solar program will use several development models, including ground-mounted, rooftop and floating solar power plants.
The program is part of the government’s efforts to expand the use of new and renewable energy while strengthening national energy security. ***
